Create Bootable USB Via Windows USB/DVD Download Tool

Here, I am using the easiest way first of all. Any newbie can use it to create a bootable USB instantly. Follow the instructions below.

  1. If you want to download Win 7 Starter for your Netbook, you can download it by using the “Windows USB/DVD Download” tool. It’s available on Microsoft’s official site. Click Hereto download this tool.
  2. Attach a USB that has at least 4GB storage with your Netbook.
  3. Download Windows 7 Starter ISO from the above section. The ISO image contains all the necessary files.
  4. Now, right-click to the “Windows USB/DVD Download” tool and select “Run.”
  5. When it’s open, look for the “Source File” box. Type the path of the ISO image file or use “Browse” to locate the ISO.
  6. Now, select “Next” to proceed.
  7. Click the option “USB Device” and select “Begin Copying” here. The tool will start converting the ISO image into a bootable “.exe” file.
  8. Within a couple of minutes, your bootable USB flash drive is ready. Now, go to the USB flash drive and double-click the “Setup.exe” file to start the installation process.

Method # 2: Use RUFUS to Create Bootable USB Flash Drive

For this purpose, use a third-party tool, Rufus. It’s a 100% working and handy tool. You don’t need to follow a long set of instructions. Just download the tool and follow a few clicks. The tool will convert the ISO image into an executable file. Follow the instructions below.

  1. Download Rufus.
  2. Connect your pen drive with a PC.
  3. To create a Windows bootdisk for Windows 7 or XP, select “NTFS” from the drop-down menu.
  4. Here, you will see a button that is similar to a DVD drive. It’s located the checkbox “Create Bootable Disk Using.” Select this option.
  5. Select Windows 7 Starter ISO file.
  6. Click “Start” and Rufus will start converting the ISO image into executable files.
  7. Within a couple of minutes, your bootable USB drive is ready.
  8. Connect it with Netbook and restart it to start the installation process.

Method # 3: Create Bootable USB Flash Drive Via Command Prompt

  1. Open Command Prompt from the Start menu. (Press Shift + F10 to launch Command Prompt.)
  2. Now, type a few commands here and press the “Enter” key every time.
  3. DISKPART
  4. LIST DISK
  5. SEL DIS 1 (Type here the number where you have saved Windows 7 Starter ISO file instead of 1)
  6. CLEAN
  7. CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=102400 (You can select your desired size)
  8. FORMAT FS=NTFS LABEL=”WINDOWS 7”
  9. ACTIVE
  10. EXIT
  11. Now, select “Install Now” to a particular drive you have created.

Installation Guide

  1. Reboot the Netbook and select “Boot from USB.”
  2. The system starts loading files. On the Settings page, set your desired language, time and currency format.
  3. Also set Keyboard or input method and select “Next” from here.
  4. Now, click the option “Install Now” to start the installation process.
  5. Select “I Accept the License Terms” from Terms and Conditions page and click “Next.”
  6. Now, you see two installation options: Custom and Upgrade. Select “Custom” from here if you want to install a fresh copy of Windows. It will delete your current settings and data. If you want to upgrade only, select “Upgrade.”
  7. Now, select a disk drive where you want to install Windows 7 Starter.
  8. The system starts copying the files, then the file expanding and installation process starts.
  9. Wait until the installation reaches 100%. The system will restart multiple times. Don’t interrupt the process by pressing any key.
  10. Now, add the product key in the given boxes.
  11. Finally, set the Network connection.
  12. That’s it. Your Windows 7 Starter is ready to use.
